Update 2: Looks like it’s true.
Update: Apparently, these scores may be fake. A lot of NeoGAF members who regularly pick up the magazine are saying Famitsu has yet to hit stands this week and may have been delayed due to a Nintendo announcement to come. We’ll keep you posted.
Original Story: Japanese game magazine Famitsu has reviewed Bayonetta in their latest issue, released on Japanese newsstands today, giving it a 40/40, their twelfth game to receive a perfect score.
Though Bayonetta is a multiplatform title, this does make it the first Xbox 360 game to receive a perfect score. A PlayStation 3 game previously received a perfect score and that was Metal Gear Solid 4.
The other perfect games are:
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998)
3. Vagrant Story (2000)
4. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003)
5. Nintendogs (2005)
6. Final Fantasy XII (2006)
7. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008)
8. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (2008)
9. 428 (2008)
10. Dragon Quest IX (2009)
11. Monster Hunter Tri (2009)
It appears that as time goes on, Famitsu’s been handing them out more oftenn Numbers five through eleven are only within the past four years.
Looks like Sega‘s pretty happy about it.
Thanks, Kotaku.
