SOTHI-Dated-Globally

Square Enix wasn’t kidding when they decided to name the game Star Ocean: The Last Hope International; it really is international. It was announced for Japan just yesterday, but today Square Enix made it global.

English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Japanese language options, reworked menus, improvements of the battle system’s targeting, and “amazing graphics through Blu-ray Disc”, Star Ocean: The Last Hope International will launch simultaneously around the world for PlayStation 3 on February 9, 2010; just a year shy after the Xbox 360 version launched.

Three screenshots from the PS3 version have been released. You can see them at the gallery.

STORY

The year is A.D. 2087. In the aftermath of World War III, Earth has been ravaged and the population decimated by a deteriorating environment. The countries that survived have joined together to form the Greater Unified Nations and turned their eyes skyward…to space.

Edge Maverick and his childhood friend Reimi Saionji are chosen as pioneer members of the Space Reconnaissance Force, which was created to seek out new worlds beyond the stars. Their ship, the Calnus, takes its place on the lunar launch pad along with four other starships of the first reconnaissance fleet. These ships – humanity’s last hope – blast off one-by-one and sail into the awaiting wormhole that leads to the vast star ocean.

And so, Edge and his crew begin their voyage in search of a new haven for humanity…and a second chance.

Does anyone know if there any other major differences apart from the voice work? Because is there any gameplay differences I might be tempted to pick this up as well as well the 360 version I already own, just to be a completionist. (Im a big fan)

The press release mentioned new characters? I don’t see that anywhere.

That’s not to say there can’t be any new characters. There could be one or two that Square Enix is saving for a later reveal. There has to be SOME additional content that’s taking up development time, considering the game’s release is so far away.

      That’s just my assumption.
