Killzone 2 has come and gone and with the game out of the “new releases” picture, everybody’s wondering what’s next for Sony’s first-person shooters. Sony may already be working on their next “AAA FPS”, according to Su-Cheng Wu’s LinkedIn profile.
His current work is detailed as, “Producing all human character faces for a coming soon AAA FPS PS3 title. Based on the MVP pipeline (RnD Project that I led) and its upgrade MVP-XP (Expression) Pipeline.”
Sure, there’s no mention of Sony anywhere, but his previous work mixes in with Sony games such as LAIR, so you never know. Either way, it’s a PlayStation 3 FPS, supposedly “AAA”.
It’s great and all, but we really need to see a mix of genres this gen. There’s TOO many FPS games released and coming out.

I know I may be in the minority here, but I always worry when I hear the term “AAA” nowadays, specially when refering to an FPS.
I would like to see more from other genres, such and RPG or Strategy etc, as the market is IMHO over saturated with FPS at the moment.
Still, who knows what is going to be annoucned? It might be incredible!
If it’s like Borderlands or Brink, I’ll welcome it.
We do need more of other genres in our current market though. Every where you go, the wall’s filled with FPS. Far Cry 2, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: World at War, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, The Orange Box and so on. Now I’m not saying these games are bad, most of the game’s I’ve listed if not all of them are excellent, but it’s becoming overcrowded with that same genre and no consistent variety.
