Final Fantasy XIII launch date confirmed, costs $95

Although it was revealed yesterday, Square Enix has officially confirmed today at the Premier Event that Final Fantasy XIII will launch in Japan on December 17th for 8800 Yen (roughly $95), also confirming the price hike rumor.
Well, those lucky bastards in Japan are going to have a white Christmas, whether it snows or not, because this is all you need to make your holiday complete.

They better find a way to drop the price at least $69.99 if they expect people to actually buy it. With two systems at $299 paying a third of that price just for one game is a bit much.
That’s not to say that people won’t buy it. I just don’t think they can count on massive sales with a price that high. I’ll bet the farm, though, that Japanese gamers will be lining up in record numbers for this game regardless of the price.
I doubt it’ll cost that high when it hits US. But if anything, it’ll at most be $70.
