Xbox 360 Elite Getting Price Drop, Pro Model Dies

The Xbox 360 Pro model is dying, and thanks to this new ad, we have a death date. August 30th, the Xbox 360 Pro will die, but give birth to a new price for the Xbox 360 Elite model, $299.
Correct, the Xbox 360 Elite will go for $299, I did not stutter. Something will probably be announced by Microsoft next week during GamesCom. This may be in response to rumors of Sony’s $299 PlayStation 3 slim. Sony pretty much has to cut the price now. We’ll see how it all plays out.

While a 360 price-cut was no mystery it’s the timing that’s more interesting and just adds fuel to the fire, as you mentioned, of the infamous PS3 Slim.
Either that or Microsoft is muscling Sony into dropping their price. If so that’s a ballsy move but then again MS probably feels confident enough in their stance in the industry right now that they can afford to do a little cat-and-mouse with Sony.
I always said if I got a 360 I would only get the Elite because of the HDD size and at $299 I just might have to do it.
