Xbox 360 owners hoping to sit down through a whole playthrough of Final Fantasy XIII, be warned. Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed today at GamesCom that the Xbox 360 version of the game will ship on multiple discs.
“This is not the final count as we’re still working on it, but we’re aiming for about three discs for the Xbox 360 version,” said the developer.
Games like Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Lost Odyssey went up to even four discs on Xbox 360.
Kitase also did mention that both versions of the game will be practically identical, although there will be those “subtle differences.”
“The 360 version and the PS3 version should be pretty much equal, both in terms of content and the visuals as well,” he added.
“Since the hardware is different, there might be some subtle differences if you compare screenshots side by side, but the team’s being very careful about the compression of the data and the visuals, so that it’s exactly the same on both.”
Final Fantasy XIII is due to launch in Japan this year with a North American and European release to follow Spring 2010.

Going from what I’ve read on gaming sites etc, I am one of the few people out there who actually doesn’t mind multiple disks! I enjoyed changing them on Star Ocean even though the end-disk locations were seemingly random.
3 disks sounds good, though tbh I’ll probably be getting the game for PS3 and not for 360 anyway
I don’t mind multiple disks either as long as the game is good I don’t care!
yeah same, 3 disc’s isn’t bad really, Star ocean was 3 disc’s and I had no problems with that.
I have found with alot of multiplatform games that get released acually look and play smoother on the 360 than the PS3. I don’t understand it.
Look at Resident Evil 5, the frame rate on the 360 was perfect but PS3 felt slugish in some area’s.
Sorry speaking off topic.
Still, I will always be loyal to Sony when it comes to Final Fantasy & Tekken.
