There’s been a lot of mystery surrounding the release date of Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3, however, today’s knowledge may finally put an end to it. In a brochure handed out for the anticipated racing game during GamesCom 2009, a release date for “Q4 2009″ was listed.

I think that pretty much confirms it. The brochure reads the following.

Developer: Polyphony – Platform: PS3
Genre: Racing – Number of players: T.B.A.

Release: 4th Quarter of 2009

THE ULTIMATE RACING GAME RETURNS

The player can choose between over 1000 cars to race on incredible detailed racetracks and unlock PlayStation Trophies. The new NASCAR and WRC championships improve the Gran Turismo experience. Players are challenged to fight their way up the online leaderboards against other racedrivers from all over the world.

Now I’m worried. After seeing the footage (with no sound) I’m not very confident in the damage physics of this game but I was on the premise that the game was at least another 9 to 12 months away. If the game launches with the same half-assed damage system I saw they’re making a mistake in releasing it this soon.

We’ve gone without GT for nearly 3 years, another half-year or so won’t kill us. Especially with all the great games coming between now and early next year.

I really hope Sony reconsiders and releases it late next year. I don’t think it’s ready.

Stay Calm Incred, This is Gran Turismo we are talking about.
in my book there has never ever ever been a bad Gran Tursimo.
It’s like Tekken 6 Incred, these games have been in creation for way too long, and now time is up.
I understand your concern about holding off till a proper release, but I believe and have enough Confidence in SONY when it comes to there main games.
