3D Dot Game Heroes details a 2D transformation
3D Dot Game Heroes is the latest in production at Silicon Studios in Japan, with publishing under FromSoftware. The PlayStation 3 action RPG takes retro pixels into the current generation… literally. New details about the upcoming game has surfaced thanks to Dengeki, with us doing translation.
The action RPG is using the latest technology in producing the beautiful 3D visuals in the game. The game’s high technology allows it to process an amazing amount of light and shadow, explaining where the beautiful water-flow and lighting we’ve already seen in screenshots come from.
The actual story of the game goes a little something like this. After the Lord of Darkness was sealed into the Orb of Light by a young soldier “with a sword to silence the demons”, his kingdom went into a time of great prosperity. Soon after, under the king’s command, the kingdom was transformed from 2D to 3D, thus creating what you now see before you. However, as the citizens welcomed their new 3D lifestyle, an incident occurred.
You play as a descendant of the hero who saved the kingdom. Other characters in the game include Princess Iris, a highly friendly princess who’s become lost, King Dottonia, a sensible and good-natured king who transformed the kingdom, and the Priest of Darkness.
Gamers will take on huge 3D monsters such as a giant dragon and a giant golem-looking creature. Look out for the game this November 5th in Japan.
