Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced today the release date for their upcoming Uncharted 2: Among Thieves for PlayStation 3. The game will release in North America on October 13, 2009. Alongside the announcement, Sony’s also revealed the box art for the game, showing Nathan Drake hanging off a ledge, dropping his gun and trying to save his own life.
Pre-order goodies will also accompany the game’s release. Amazon, GameStop, Game Crazy and Best Buy will be giving out golden guns for the game’s multiplayer mode. Best Buy’s getting exclusive golden AK-47′s. Here’s what everyone else is getting.

The multiplayer demo access will run from September 9th through September 29th. The public demo will go live on September 30th.

Nice Boxart! I hope the UK and EU releases and near the US one, I hate it when we have to wait for ages for perfectly finished games. Then again I think Naughty Dog are pretty good on their releases if I recall.

The box art is okay but I would’ve preferred something along the lines of Army of Darkness or even National Lampoon’s Vacation.

Or maybe a different artist that can add a bit of visual flair like Boris Vallejo, Travis Charest or J. Scott Campbell. Boris is mainly known for his fantasy world stuff but he’d still do a bang up job.

Overall, I just think the cover needs something that’s more story driven rather than just seeing Drake holding on for dear life. Something that includes all the characters in the game.
There’s a bunch more characters in this one than the first so featuring them on the cover would really give you the sense that you’re going on a real adventure. Not just playing some twitch game where you’ll spend most of your time grabbing on ledges (although there is a lot of that going on but still…).
Got another one. Really like the fact that it’s in the snow and has a hot chick in it. Drake is lucky enough to have two hot women in this game and having on the cover should’ve been priority number one.
Hey, hot women on a cover of a game who’s audience is basically 18 to 35!? It doesn’t get much easier than that.
