Sony was like a leaky ship during this year’s E3, spilling tons of information before the press conference had even commenced. Jack Tretton, President of Sony Computer Entertainment, didn’t like that the one of the conference’s big highlights, the PSP Go, was spilled on the internet before the conference, saying people “don’t respect confidentiality in this industry.”
“People don’t respect confidentiality in this industry,†says Jack Tretton, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America. “It’s tough enough to keep a secret within your own company, much less when you speak to third parties.â€
“This is an industry that has trouble focusing on today,†he says “We want to constantly talk about tomorrow.… You have to prepare for people to know things in advance. The frustrating thing is they only know a part of the story and that opens up a lot of conjecture and misinformation that ultimately waters down the reality when you roll it out.â€
PlayStation Prez On Leaks [CNBC]

Well Sony sort of shot themselves in the foot on this one. They not only completed the Qore episode that featured the PSPgo but they also published it to the PSN Store. How stupid is that!?
There was already rumblings that the device was on the way but to actually finish the Qore segment, something Sony has complete control of, was just a stupid mistake. They should’ve kept that video behind lock and key until E3 was over.
And my guess is that this was the MEGATON ANNOUNCEMENT they had in store and it got deflated when the Qore video was released. Or maybe it was FFXIV. If so Jack did a incredibly piss poor job of announcing it the world. Barely any video and a really crappy and uninspiring intro but then again, Jack has always admitted to being deftly afraid of being on stage in front of thousands of people so not much of a surprise there.
But he is right, we’ve become so impatient that we can’t wait for stuff to get released officially when knowing about something a few weeks before is hardly going to change the world.
