Here’s a huge mistake on Sony’s end. The latest issue of Qore has been leaked to subscribers, (I can confirm this is real) and in that episode is the reveal of the PSP GO. Yeah, it’s true, and who doubted it. We got the whole round-up of information for you here.

The PSP Go’s specs so far are the following.

  • 3.8 inch screen
  • 23% lighter than the PSP-3000
  • 16 gigabye internal flash memory
  • Bluetooth support
  • All digital software library
  • Will exist alongside PSP-300 in the market
  • Fall 2009 release date

The new PSP will allow developers to create smaller games such as those seen on the PlayStation Network and unleash them on the new portable. Here’s a better shot of the portable, via NeoGAF.

The leaked Qore episode also reveals first footage of LittleBigPlanet for PSP, as well as confirming that Gran Tursimo PSP will be revealed at the show and that “a new Metal Gear Solid” game is coming to PSP.

The box art for the PSP GO was also leaked, via PlayStation LifeStyle, which bears a striking resemblance to the leaked box art of the supposed PlayStation 3 slim.

Here’s the video from Qore.

Official confirmation will definitely come Tuesday.

A couple things that come to mind…how much? is there video out? and why no camera? I thought that would be awesome for using Skype. Other then that no big deal, I’kk probably end up getting it.

fyi – Sony took down the Qore episode. Quick they are.

First off, I love the slide out controls but I’m not all that jazzed about how empty that space looks. Certainly not digging the enclosed aesthetics of the directional pad and buttons. It’s almost like it’s 2 different products between the screen and what’s underneath.

Next, where’s the touchscreen? Accelerometer so you can play games when it’s closed? And did anyone else catch how quickly he said that “all UMD games” will be available via the PSN Store but before that said that if you still want UMD games and movies you can get the PSP-3000? If all the same content will be available for download then why would I bother buying a PSP with a UMD drive? Carrying around UMD discs and nowhere near as much on-board memory… uh, I think I’ll choose the Go model.

And why do I get the suspicion that the Go version didn’t start out this way? As though the iPhone and iPod Touch had a lot to do with the current design. That and a few artists renderings of what they wanted to see. Like the infamous design that made its way around the web that had a slide out screen. That looked a million times better than this thing. Sexier, sleeker. The Go is like comparing the iPhone to the Android driven G1. It’s functional but you won’t see it donning a crown, holding flowers while walking down a runway.

Nice to see Gran Turismo finally come out after all this time but along with all the small games Sony wants developers to create I’m sure something like GT will be at least 2GB or more.

Overall, I’m slightly excited about the potential of the Go but I also wish Sony spent a little more time on design and functions (again, no talk of a touch screen or accelerometer). And honestly it would’ve been smarter to give it another 6 months or a year and make what everyone wants: the PSPhone with everything the iPhone has (apps, a “real” browser) and get with Verizon or Sprint to counter AT&T.

I also hope this wasn’t the MEGATON ANNOUNCEMENT as it’s not really THAT huge of a reveal. Oh yeah, also very stupid of Sony to actually finish and publish this Qore episode unless they wanted it leaked.

totally agree wif yu on the empty space for the controls and that would be a good idea for the touch screen, but i feel that i would like a hard copy of sum of the games i own, so maybe buy the game and have the option of putting it on the psp hdd, but that also brgs up the option of pirating. and i also feel that the design of the psp could benefit from looking more like the psp rendering on the net.
