Ars Technica seems to have the 411 on a new Xbox 360 Elite bundle coming our way. An inside source has told them that Microsoft will be releasing a new bundle with Halo 3 and Fable II for the price it’s already being sold at now, $400.
This is a great deal, as you’re getting two great games for nothing, basically. However, it would piss off people who already own elites, such as myself. I guess I’m good though, I got mine too far back to really be pissed off anyway. Although, I still do have to purchase that Fable II.
Confirmation over the new bundle is supposed to come by the end of next week. We’ll keep you updated.
Oh, and Ars Technica will be revealing some brand new Sony information soon from that same insider.
Exclusive: $400 360 Elite bundle, with Halo 3 and Fable 2 [Ars Technica]

If this is true they’re making it almost impossible not to get one. I’m convinced that I don’t “really” need one since I have almost a dozen games that I’ve barely scratched the surface on or need to finish so having another console where I have to pay to play (online anyway) is probably too much.
Still, again, if it’s true it is a monster deal. Hopefully Sony is taking notes and plans to drop the price of the PS3 really soon or bundle in Killzone 2 and LittleBigPlanet for $400. That would be a great deal!
If only it weren’t Halo.
True dat. If it was Gears they’d probably sell even more of these bundles. But no matter how much better Gears there’s no denying that Halo is a very strong brand name. It’s become the most popular shooter since Wolfenstein.
I can’t stand the technicolor, Fisher Price look of Halo 3 but it might play better than it looks.
We still don’t know if this is even true or not. But, if MS does release such a bundle they should see a good spike in sales even in this economy.
I dont deny how popular Halo is or how it has a fanbase. I just cant stand it and most people how dont own it at this point probably dont for more than one reason.
Gears would be a much better replacement imo as you said.
