This is where the corporate world sucks you straight in. So, why would you want to pre-order your copy of inFAMOUS at GameStop? Well, it’ll net you an exclusive power for the lead character, Cole McGrath, that apparently cannot be obtained otherwise.
“Reserve inFAMOUS and receive a code that unlocks the GameStop exclusive Gigawatt Blades Power. With electric blades extending from his wrists, a single blow annihilates any foe and transforms Cole’s hands into instruments of sheer destruction. Yet still gentle enough to allow for the occasional tickling.”
While that’s a nice way for GameStop to get pre-orders, does that mean that the power will not be in the game otherwise? We sure hope not.

One can only hope that it’ll be offered as a DLC you ca buy later (maybe a few weeks after release) rather than alienate everyone from access. What happens if you just can’t get there before the pre-order time is up?
Or maybe these electric blades are gettable in the game but you have to beat it on veteran level while the pre-order let’s you bypass that.
Either way, I’m not sure I want to be sucked into buying the game that way. I get most of my stuff from Best Buy (for Reward Zone points).
But, you can’t knock Gamestop. It’s a great idea and if it works with more sales coming from Gamestop than Wal-Mart and/or Best Buy then this could become a trend with more developers making special concessions for Gamestop.
