The first screenshots of Sony’s upcoming 256-player online action-shooter, MAG, have surfaced on Flickr. There’s a whopping twenty-eight at your disposal and they seem to show only two of the maps that are playable in the game with some concept art on the others. We particularly like this one.

Hit the gallery for the screens.

I’m actually curious as to how this screenshots even surfaced?

They in-game shots are actually pretty but none of it matters if they animate like Super Smash Bros.

I also hope they’re actually doing some innovation with the game rather than just making a huge sandbox to play in. Personally I think online multiplayer has reached its innovative peak but we’ll see what Sony is able to do.

    I dont think thats true.

Regardless the next overall step in online gaming is I want to see more stable server architecture first and foremost.

Stability is on everyone’s mind and while the erasure of lag and broken connections would make the game more enjoyable that doesn’t mean that any innovation in the game itself has taken place regarding the gameplay.

But, I’ll hold off on totally digging into until we see some actual gameplay and are privy to some of the featured game modes other than the usual CTF and destroy/protect base camps.

Thats all that is required. See real footage and game info first then start making judgements.

Interestingly enough there is some rumors these are fake….albeit good ones, but I assume we will find out shortly if they are or not.
