Psyonix Studios made a new post on their official boards regarding PlayStation Network sign-out issues on their downloadable game, Supsersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars. Psyonix’s Corey David (Psyonix-Corey) writes “Sony mentioned a bug they fixed with the next system software update (2.7.0) that might resolve these issues.”
When forum member “coolcole93″ asked if they knew when firmware v2.70 would be arriving, Psyonix’s Jerad Heck (Psyonix-Jerad) replied “IIRC it will drop later this month. And contain lots of fun new fixes. I’m excited about this one, lots of new stuff.” However, he was unable to mention any of these new features saying “I dont think I can mention any of them just yet.”
I don’t think we’ll have to doubt this one. Developers, such as Psyonix, are usually given updates or information prior to release to the public so they can test it out and integrate new features into their upcoming releases. I think it’s fair to say we can expect firmware 2.70 later this month with information coming sooner.

I doubt it’ll be anything mind blowing as I would like to think that it would’ve leaked by now or we’d have some idea of what to expect.
Right now I think all of Sony’s cards are on the table. We got trophies and Home, which among other things are some of the prime differentiators of the PS3 from the 360 (with trophies being only slightly different since it’s basically a derivative of Achievement points).
Maybe it’ll be something to do with trophies since Sony just launched the new trophy integration with PSN accounts online.
What I’m looking for is an update to the XMB with something similar to the mock-up from that post about a week or so ago. But there’s almost no chance of that happening but I can dream.
I think I read somewhere that the new firmware (2.70) is supposed to speed up the XMB, but other than that I haven’t heard a peep about it.
Off topic: The “new” SCRAWL looks great guys. I really like the changes.
The XMB isn’t even that slow at the moment so I don’t think they should worry about that but then again I can’t think of anything else for them to do now.
The XMB can be slow at times and even if it doesn’t seem slow for some it never hurts to have it react faster. One thing that still seems to take a long time is accessing trophies. That could definitely use a little speed.
Actually being able to pick your own avatar for the XMB would be nice. What about a picture of our Home avatar? Just at least allow me to use something than the presets Sony set up.
Actually, I’m still looking for animated backgrounds rather than just a bunch of pretty wallpapers. I have the Flower theme on my mine now but you can’t convince me that Sony couldn’t have a ribbon of flowers flowing through the screen just like the smoke.
Oh well. I can dream. As for the subtle change to Scrawl, yeah, looking good!!! If you do decide to really change the site just avoid what Playstation Lifestyle did. I used to love their site but now it’s just a cluttered mess. Still love the articles and posts but yuck.
I was mainly referring to the in-game XMB. I’ve never really had an issue out of game. I’d still like to see them move the clock or battery status icon so they don’t overlap each other, but that’s only a very small complaint.
Ah true the in-game XMB is relatively slow. Yeah I agree they should speed that up.
Oh yes. For all that’s holy PLEASE move some of that crap around. Everything’s in the corner. The battery for your controller, the time, notifications (downloads, friends on/off line). Even the useless Information Bar is in the top right corner.
Maybe they’ll put in in-game chat or maybe allow you to still be logged on when you’re watching a movie so you can chat and/or text while still watching.
The info bar needs to go permanently. Does anyone leave it turned on?
it’d be nice too for them to change up the xmb too, a bit to give it a diff look
