I got sucked into the Killzone 2 vibe and actually picked up that strategy guide. I’m sure it’ll come in handy but I’m not impressed with it. First off, the graphics for the buttons scream first generation DVD and also seems like the work of a company that has no sense of style whatsoever. The graphics on the buttons are scaled improperly and the icons don’t seem to fit in the Killzone world.

Also, there’s no way to rewind or even pause the tips they give you. Basically you’re watching video of a certain section you may be having trouble with but instead of being able to rewind or even fast-forward if necessary your only option is to either start it over from the beginning or go back to the menu you just left.

Qore is bad enough but I’ve come to accept the way it’s developed but not having control of these video tips is a bit disheartening. I just can’t believe Sony would allow this to pass through and not want to hold off on it a few more days or weeks to make the experience of browsing the strategy guide as rewarding as playing the game.

That’s not say that tips aren’t good. I only viewed a couple (don’t to see any spoilers; don’t know if they’re in there but I’d rather not try and find out) and they appear solid enough. So while the content appears to be in good shape the execution of the product is sorely lacking.

Don’t worry I bought killzone 2 yesterday and it came with an advertising pamphlet for the strategy guide and it said it was spoiler free so you can look through it without worries.
