Despite what Capcom‘s Mike Webster said in an OXM interview recently on Xbox LIVE, you will not be able to move and shoot at the same time in Resident Evil 5. Why? Have you ever tried walking and shooting at the same time? It’s hard to hit your target, apparently. The design of standing still is supposed to reinforce the importance of co-op and your partner having your back. However, there will be “Action Controls” like previously said, it just won’t be run and gun.
Capcom’s Chris Kramer tells us “The newer controls (which are selectable from the easily-accessed Options menu while in game) allow players to choose from four control schemes. The first two (A and B) are very, very similar to what you would consider “classic” Resident Evil controls. The second pair (C and D) are newer variants, mostly focused on moving more natural motion to the second analog stick on your 360 or PS3 controller. For the first time, you will be able to strafe in a Resident Evil game, just not while shooting! C and D will be the right choices to experiment with if you are coming off of games like Lost Planet, Gears of War or Call of Duty. A and B are where you should stick if you have played past Resident Evil titles and want to stay true to the purity of the original.”
