Free Radical, famed developers of the great Timesplitters series and not so good Haze, has had a bit of a financial issue lately and has closed down. However, Crytek, the German developers behind Crysis, have purchased Free Radical for an undisclosed amount.

Free Radical scriptwriter Rob Yescombe confirmed the purchase of Free Radical by Crytek. “After seven long weeks of uncertainty, I can confirm that Free Radical is now out of the woods. We’ve been bought by a really, really good company.”

So it looks like Free Radical is back and with a great developer such as Crytek owning them, I think we can expect some good projects to come out of there.

Good news to hear indeed. We may be seeing Time Splitters 4 after all.

Now I wonder about Battlefront 3. Wasnt it said to be passed off to another dev? That would be unfortunate now that that FR is back in business as its only been 7 weeks of down time. If its still with another dev and stays there, that kind of sucks.

To be honest I don’t care about timesplitters or Haze but I really want to know wants happening to battlefront 3 as the footage looked great.
