In a recent interview in the The Official PlayStation Magazine with Sony Computer Entertainment’s chairman, Kazuo Hirai, reveals that Hirai doesn’t think highly too highly of it’s competitor, the Microsoft Xbox 360. Of course, that is to be expected.
Hirai comments that “…I’d like to think that we continue official leadership in this industry” when faced with subject of the Xbox’s large install base. Adding that “…It’s difficult to talk about Nintendo because we don’t look at their console as being competitors. They’re a different world and we operate in our world.”
As for the Xbox 360?
“You need a word that describes something that lacks longevity” states Hirai in the interview. “Last time I checked, they’ve never had a console that’s been on the market for more than four or five years and we’ve committed to a ten year life cycle.”
Confident enough, Hirai goes on to say that “there’s no way that at the end of a life cycle our competition is going to have a higher install base.”
