Halo 3 was officially the most played game on Xbox 360 in 2008. The Master Chief fought off competition from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Grand Theft Auto IV to ensure his place at the top of the podium.

The full list of 20 includes 8 action games, 4 demos, 2 music titles 2 arcade games, 1 racing title, a single sports outing and 1 beta!

The full lists of Arcade titles and original Xbox games makes for interesting reading: 3 titles have seen their demo reach the top 20 but have not made it themselves. In the Xbox LIVE Arcade charts, UNO was the most played title but ranked 5th in terms of purchases.

The gaming habits of the Xbox community seem to have remained the same between the original Xbox and the community that have shifted to the 360. This is clear for all to see with Halo 2 top of the original Xbox charts and franchises such as Fable, Call of Duty and Rainbow Six also included in the list as well as having titles in the 360 chart.
