Team ICO Was Big Inspiration on Prince of Persia

In a new fan Q&A on the PlayStation Blog, Prince of Persia producer Ben Mattes tells us that Team ICO’s already released classics such as ICO and Shadow of the Colossus has played a major role in creating the new Prince of Persia.

“Team ICO is definitely an inspiration for us and both Shadow Of The Colossus as well as ICO were games we played extensively during the development of PoP,” he said.

“Team ICO consistently proves that videogames can be so much more then ‘just’ a form of entertainment – they can enlighten, teach, and make us feel. I welcome any and all comparisons to the incredible development talent of that studio.”

It’s great to see Ubisoft Montreal show so much respect to another company. As a great developer themselves, to be compared with Team ICO is just one of the even bigger compliments.

Just the mention of Team ICO makes me salivate for whatever they have cookin’. One can only hope that they’ll bless us with something in 2009. Maybe show something off at E3.

If they do I want to see or hear ANYTHING about it before E3. I hope it’s a complete surprise to everyone there. At the most I wouldn’t mind hearing that they plan on showing something but even then I hope it’s only within days of the show. If we start hearing about their project a few months before E3 it’ll make expectations to high to satisfy.
