Tim Schafer’s much loved new game, Brutal Legend, has found a publisher and it isn’t who you would expect. Your eyes do not deceive you, it is EA. Although in recent memory EA has been the “licensed game and sequel manufacturer,” they have changed their ways by adding new IPs. Also this year, Dead Space and Mirror’s Edge have been games released by EA that take a new direction and established great new properties for the company, overall. This is a welcome announcement from EA and Double Fine (Tim Schafer’s Company) and all eyes will be on the Spike VGA’s, which will contain gameplay from Brutal Legend, for the first time. This seems like a well timed press release and maybe a coincidence because the host of the Spike VGA’s is none other than the lead voice actor in the game, Jack Black. Stay tuned for more information as we receive it. Also, the full press release is after the jump.

Brütal Legend tells the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black, who is drawn back through time to a mythical world immersed in Rock and Roll folklore; where great Metal titans once ruled and power chords rang from the countryside for all to hear. When an oppressed people request Eddie’s knowledge of modern warfare, he pulls from his own experience in the only occupation he’s ever had, a roadie for a Heavy Metal band. From this springs the most hellacious army man has ever seen, and thus brings this ancient world into the Age of Metal.
Brütal Legend will be available for the Xbox 360® video game system and PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system in autumn 2009.
Double Fine is represented by CAA.
