Speaking with Eurogamer, Quantic Dream studio president David Cage has told us that a demo will be available for Heavy Rain.

“Yes, of course, there will be a demo,” said David Cage.

“We need to think about it, but I wouldn’t want to spoil the story,” Cage added. “We’ve spent a lot of time working on the story this time; we’ve worked with people from Hollywood, script writers, to really make it just right. And I think it’s a very unusual story for a videogame, so I think people will be quite surprised.”

When asked about expanding the game with downloadable content or future titles, he stated it is possible.

“This is something it’s really too early to talk about, but it’s definitely a possibility,” Cage revealed. “There’s so many possibilities with this thing, because what matters now is just the story you want to tell. Do you have a good story to tell? Then you can do it, because this thing isn’t specific to the series. You can tell any story with this interface, because it’s entirely contextual.”

Gamespot.com has a GREAT preview of the game. It talks about how there are so many possibilities for each scene in the game and the fact that there is no real “game over” screen. If your character dies that drives another narrative in the game and drives the story further based on the events that take place in another part of the story. Based on that it’s pretty obvious that there will be multiple characters to take control over throughout the game.

Gamespot described the demo shown at the GC had multiple outcomes.

Madison (the chick they keep showing off with the wet face and riding the motorcycle) sneaks into an home where she finds dead bodies. They describe watch several different scenarios where Madison escapes before the killer knows she’s there. Another where she hides, is found out but makes it away leaving her helmet behind (which the killer could use to track her down I guess) and another where she actually fends off attacks from the killer. But, again, she could be killed and yet the game doesn’t stop there but continues on. So again, there’s obviously more than one character in this story similar to “Indigo Prophecy”.

I wish they had an actual release date but either way this is a no brainer to purchase.
