The new Xbox 360 interface is really a badass new view. This new walkthrough gives us an in-depth look at the new dashboard.

The first category, “My Xbox 360″, shows us several listings such as “Gamercard”, “Games Library”, “Music Library”, “Video Library”, “Photo Library”, “Windows Media Center” and “System Settings”. The second category, “Spotlight”, shows the key things the Xbox Live service has to offer at the moment, such as new trailers, etc. The third category, “Primetime”, is where games such as 1 vs. 100 and play appointment-type gaming, where you would get on a game at a certain time. The next category, the “Game” channel, is where you can launch into games on your hard-drive or games you have stored on there such as arcade games.

The “Community” channel replaces your friends list where you can jump into games with your friends and interact with them. Watch the rest of the video for a full breakdown.

Besides the FFXIII announcement I think the new interface is why MS wins this year’s E3.

It’s more than just a new skin but an entirely different way of interacting with the 360. The thing that really made me stand up and take notice was the timed games. Just like a real TV show that comes on a certain time there are games happening at certain times which really just brings the entire 360 community to life in a new way that Sony just can’t match.

Okay, that just sounded like it was lifted directly from the XBL brochure but I was really impressed seeing how everything works.

And the new avatars are just great. Yes it’s a total rip-off of Miis and Sony’s Home avatars but they’ve taken the best of both worlds and made it kiddy but just grown up enough that you care about the look of your avatar. And I love the soft shading and feel of the avatars. It looks like a mix between CG animation from Pixar and claymation (sort like The Incredibles, my favorite Pixar film… ahem, hence my screen name).

Anyway, the interface is hot and although I’m still a Sony boy I’m pretty sure I’m going to have a 360 before the year is out.
