Well, Eight Days and The Getaway 3 got the cut, and rumor has it that so did Heavenly Sword 2. So Kotaku was nice enough to check in with SCEE regarding the situation to see if they were changing strategies or something.
“I think it is fair to say that we do not comment on rumour and speculation, especially about games that have never been announced,” said SCEE corporate PR manager Nick Caplin.
“Regarding 8 Days and The Getaway, we review the progress and viability of games on a regular basis taking into account feedback from within WWS [worldwide studios] and all the RHQs [regional headquarters], and at our latest review, felt that the budget and resources required to complete these games could be more beneficial elsewhere.”
He did, however, say that there is no trouble on the European side of this. “We are still dedicated to our first-party studios and are very excited about the fantastic exclusive titles coming this year, such as LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2 and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, as well as some very exciting titles coming in the near future.”
“Please note that LBP, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift and Killzone 2 are all from European studios,” said Caplin.
[SCEE: We're Dedicated To Our First Party Studios, No Problems Here]

O: I’m getting sick of this! everytime SCE gives an interview or anything related to this they talk about the same games….”LBP, KZ2, Resistance 2, Motorstorm…blah blah” it’s time to open up it’s portifolio and bring us new games >__>” btw, SCE line up for E3 this year is pretty much dissapointing…I was hoping for some big announcements.
I agree. Show us some damn RPGs, not just by SCEE. By third-parties.
@ Sal
Well thats for the third parties to initially announce, not SCEE. We may still.
@ Caelum
Well of course they will tout the games coming out next. They are preparing for those. I would think that there are other titles in development that we dont know about. Thats speculation, but how it goes.
