Final Fantasy Versus XIII Not On Hold, Poor Translation

Square Enix has told gamers today that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is not on hold and is going full steam ahead. Everyone first thought the game was on hold from a translation from the latest Famitsu. It seems the translation was a bit poor.

“Reports that development for Final Fantasy Versus XIII is on hold are false,” the publisher said in a statement passed on to Eurogamer.

“The truth of the situation is that when free, some staff from the Versus team have been helping with the XIII team on development of Final Fantasy XIII. Development for both titles is continuing as originally scheduled.”

In the translation, game director Testsuya Nomura used the words “on hold” and said “the entire Versus team is helping to finish Final Fantasy XIII“.

“We checked with our office this morning and they said it was completely wrong,” another spokesperson said. “They said it’s not true. Basically, in the interview, he said that they are partially helping the development of XIII… As they are scheduled, XIII is the lead game, so it’ll be arriving first, so development on Versus is following at a later schedule, and as people are busy on different parts of the development they become free and when they’re needed.”

Thankfully, both games are going full-steam ahead on development.
