Buy Qore, Get Late Access to SOCOM: Confrontation Beta
June 6, 2008 / 03:57 PM EDT / (@salromano)

Apparently, buying the first issue of Qore will not grant you access to the SOCOM: Confrontation beta as soon as it starts. David Brothers responded in a comment on the official SOCOM blog about it.

“Just to clear up a few frequently asked questions- Qore gives access to the public SOCOM beta two weeks after the public beta launches. There are other ways to get into the public beta beforehand, like the upcoming preorder program, so don’t worry about the ratio of non-SOCOM fans to SOCOM fanatics.

Cool? “

For the most part, most of the people I know that bought Qore was solely for the SOCOM beta. So if anything it is a bit unfair to people like us.

I think that this is how it’ll work:

Pre-Paid Socom: Get acess to Beta right away.
Qore(haven’t pre-paid): Get acess to Beta(2 weeks later)
No Qore or Pre-Paid Socom: No beta for you.

When they say “public beta” they don’t mean everyone with a PSN account can get it. Metal Gear Solid Online was considered a “public beta” but you still had to pre-pay the game.

you can either pay 3 dollars or 5 to get into the beta XD

I wouldnt say its unfair because if you stick around the Socom forums and sites you would have known that this was the case. They didnt pull anything on us imo.

Yeah however the pre-ordering method is pretty cheap. For MGO, Europe and Japan didn’t have to pre-order to get access, they got in for free.

Meanwhile North American customers get screwed up the arse and have to put down money.

lol. Ill be buying it anyway so preordering doesnt bother me in the least.

While I figured something was up when I got a message that the content wasn’t available yet I have do feel that Sony could’ve made this information available somewhere in the magazine or made a statement about it in the promo video. At least people wouldn’t be totally surprised by the news.

Still, 2 weeks after the beta starts isn’t a bad deal.

As for Qore it’s pretty good. The Afro Ninja guy was annoying but otherwise it’s pretty good. And purposely didn’t go through the entire thing in one sitting although it’s very possible to get through the whole thing in about 30 minutes or so.
