Video of Home Game Launching

In a new video interview with Ron Festejo, Creative Director for Home, he demonstrates the game launching in the PLAYSTATION 3 program. He explains that intsead of going into games, and finding lobbies with your friends in it, you can just invite them in Home. This could all be avoided as well if they just added in-game XMB and 2D cross-game invites, but that is just my opinion. Video at the link.

This feature is actually pretty cool since you can configure certain settings from the game before going into the lobby of the game basically giving you the ability to jump directly into the game.

I haven’t tried it yet since the beta is basically a ghost town most of the time. Then again I don’t log in as much as I used to because, well, there’s not a heck of a lot going on right now. Nothing new to report but chances are that I’ll read about something new here before I have a chance to log in and see it for myself.

While we’re not supposed to really talk about what goes on in the beta someone always manages to post a video or spill the beans on something new.

At least features like this give me hope that Home will get better and has a chance of surviving.

If they just had System Software cross-game-invites you wouldn’t get the extra functionality this offers.

home offers different, in some ways expanded methods for linking up with people. Doesn’t mean we’re not going to get the basic features we want in an updated home/PS button menu.
