HAZE Does Not Run In HD, Only 576p

May 19, 2008 / 06:30 AM EDT / (@salromano)

In a new interview, create lead for HAZE, Derek Littlewood, confirmed that HAZE will not run in high definition.

The exclusive title runs at 1280×576 (576p), only to be upscaled to a standard 720p.

“We prioritise a nice smooth framerate over a different res,” he said.

“Personally, I don’t really buy the whole thing. People did the same with Call of Duty, they did the same with Halo, and they say with those games ‘It’s not running at true HD!’ And it’s like, ‘I don’t care’. If the game looks good and it runs smoothly, those are the important things to me.”

We will see if he is right as it looks like today and tomorrow are the days reviews will start rolling in.

I predict an averages in the 70′s for Haze. I wasn’t blown away by the demo but I also didn’t invest any time in the multiplayer so maybe it’s better than I’m giving it credit for.

With all the commercials I’ve seen for it lately one can only hope that this game is a success but I’m keeping my expectations low on this one.

Kind of disappointing, because last time I heard anything they were saying 720p…and that wasn’t very long ago.

But I’d rather take the lower resolution than problems with framerate.

The game didn’t wow me much personally, but it could be fun and I’ll probably rent it, if only for the drop-in drop-out coop campaign mode…

    I agree on that too.

It’s really been quite astounding how this game has gradually grown more and more underwhelming. I was once all hyped up for Haze, then the delay news hit, then I forgot about it, then I played the demo and found it to be pretty awful. Chances are, I’ll soon forget about it again.
